Spro have been trading for over 15 years from their headquarters in the Netherlands and have built up a massive network covering the world. Their products range from match fishing pole floats up to electronic boat engines. Spro are a massive name in the US which is a very hard market to enter. I was completely stunned when the guys from Angling Concepts (UK Spro and Cralusso importer) asked me to come on board and test some of their new products, some items will be good quality entry level others will be top of the range so there will be something for everyones budget.
Hopefully soon I will be running a monthly junior photo competition and giving SPRO products to the lucky winners.
Buying new tackle can be a difficult decision especially if you are a youngster like me, I started using my dad's mouse eaten gear from the shed and then progressed to buying tackle from internet auctions, which quickly fell apart or was not up to the job. When my dad realised fishing was not just a passing fad he allowed me to get some money from my savings and buy some better fishing gear..which was the best thing ever, smooth reels and active rods made the whole catching experience much more complete plus it gave me a real confidence boost when competing in matches.
One tip I would like to give to youngsters or people on a tight budget is to check out your options....The big tackle company's charge extra for the name, quite often the same quality and performance can be found elsewhere at a fraction of the price. SPRO is not a household name here in the UK, but based on what I have seen so far they will be soon !

The Passion 740 match really caught my eye it's smooth looks and tight body makes it the perfect size for match fishing. My spool was loaded up with 4lb line and felt perfect for waggler fishing, it would probably handle line to around 6lb with ease !

Spro Dragmaster fishing reel with fighting drag feature
The Dragmaster is a very well built reel, I was especially impressed with the fighting drag included in the price. My spool was loaded with 6lb line and I would not like to go any heavier than that.
The fighting drag is an excellent feature, it can be adjusted instantly to suit playing different sized fish.

The Inspiration Picker rod is an outstanding rod which has a lovely soft action for smaller fish but enough strength to land bigger fish. It comes with 3 different quiver tips and the all have different jobs, for this particular session I used the yellow tip because it is the softest out of the three and would easily indicate the small bites and not pull the hook out of the skimmers soft mouths. It is well built and definitely a rod I will use a lot!

One of the best waggler rod I have used, it has a lovely soft through action and soon powers up for bigger fish. This Pellet Waggler rod can also be used for normal waggler fishing for small silvers on rivers or canals.
Another good thing about this rod is that the reel seat is very stable.
